Should congress select Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister?

Can Rahul Gandhi match the caliber of any one of the Congress present stalwarts - say MMS, Pranab Mukherjee, Chidambaram, Kamal Nath, Sheila Dixit, Jayanti Natrajan, Arun Nehru, Gulamnabi Azaad et al? The Reply is big NO. In a democratic set up, caliber is the only consideration for any elevation.

The Congress has already committed blunder by giving the reigns in the hand of a novice, unqualified, immature and wisdomless leader, resulting in unprecedented corruptions , scandals, looting of the nation and stashing our huge wealth in foreign banks. Second such mistake by installing a so-called tainted Rahul Gandhi as P.M (Boston case, alleged rape case etc.), the congress will commit only a harakiri. I wonder what has happened to this oldest party - Congress and why all the stalwarts are acting like puppet with no self respect and conscience. and seems to have been sold out - obviously and assumingly for money? Such a group has no rights to rule over the nation.

Digvijaya Singh's statement on Rahul Gandhi - that he wanted the heir apparent to take over as India's prime minister as soon as possible - is not without substance or an off-the-cuff remark. A section in the Congress is extremely worried at the way things are going - with one scam or the other surfacing and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh unable to cap the 'flare-up' of a series of scams. Added to this blow-out is the fuel provided by Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev. And the midnight crackdown on Ramdev's supporters has divided the Congress with inputs coming in that the people are upset and angry at the way the issue was tackled. So, was Digvijaya testing the waters on Rahul's take-over? Probably yes. At the same time, he has sent a message to Manmohan Singh too to act and not use coalition dharma as a ruse to preside over a government known for scams and corruption. The indirect message is also that Manmohan Singh may be honest and his integrity may be well above the watermarks of controversy, but that is not enough. Not being able to exercise his authority ordained by the Constitution in checking corruption is as good or bad as being corrupt. After all, the buck stops at the PM's office. Hence, is the Congress looking at alternatives? Maybe. But there are groups in the Congress - hardcore 10 Janpath loyalists (like Digvijaya) on one side and fence-sitters on the other. Senior party leaders are aware of the ambition of Pranab Mukherjee and Chidambaram who have started feeling that they have been taking the cross on behalf of Manmohan Singh for too long.

Digvijaya may have floated the 'Rahul and PM' balloon to also send out a message to Pranab and Chidambaram - that the PM's chair belongs to 10 Janpath. Of course, Digvijaya did a u-turn (when has he not done that?) clarifying that he did not say that it was "high time" that Rahul take over as PM. He has clarified that he did not use the words "high time" but wanted to see Rahul as PM in his lifetime.

Digvijaya's 'become PM' birthday wishes on Rahul turning 41 did create a churn in the Congress. It was seen as an insult to Manmohan Singh. This is why the party scrambled to clarify that it was for the party and Congress (not Digvijaya) to decide when he should take over as Prime Minister. "It is something he will decide, party high command will decide, people of India will decide," party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan told reporters in Delhi."He has brought about a tremendous change, especially among youth, democratization of the party, reaching out to farmers, dalits and disadvantaged sections of the society. He is not only a youth icon, but certainly a future leader of not only this party but of the country", she said. But she also clarified that "our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has done an excellent job in heading the government for the last seven years. Manmohan Singh is our PM and he continues to be that."

There is a growing feeling in the Congress in Delhi that Rahul Gandhiis not prime-minister material and is committing one blunder after another that started with Bihar. MSN readers too feel that Rahul Gandhi is not mature enough to take over as prime minister. To a question on whether he is mature enough to take over as Prime Minister, a overwhelming 71 percent (14,967 voters of a total of 21,010) said he is only a product of dynasty politics; not PM material. Just 27 % (5,577 votes) said he is young and dynamic and that India needs leaders like him. 2 % (466 voters) had no opinion.

A similar verdict is reflected on MSN's Facebook poll where 65% voters do not think Rahul Gandhi is ready to be PM just yet.

Here are four reasons why Rahul is not mature enough to take over as PM:

Not willing to shoulder responsibility

Anyone having ambitions to rule the country as PM should have a fair experience in governance. Rahul has always refused to join the Cabinet despite repeated appeals from Manmohan Singh. In 2009, Singh made an open appeal. Rahul kept mum. If he wants to bring in change, he should do so by wielding constitutional authority, shoulder responsibility and not act as an extra-constitutional authority. Why is Rahul reluctant to shoulder responsibility? Can such a person become a Prime Minister?

A vanishing leader

Rahul is never seen when there is a national crisis. He has neither been seen nor has he commented on the crusade against corruption spearheaded by Anna Hazare. This despite the fact that Rahul has always been outspoken on corruption and wants a 'clean and young India'. He has also not spoken on the 2G scam, Maoist issue, Posco land issue (he once rushed to Oddisha, but not this time when the tribals really needed him), the muddle in the Railway Ministry, corruption in the judiciary or the crisis with Pakistan and China. He is only seen and heard only when he takes the Shatabdi Express or rides pillion to assuage farmers in Uttar Pradesh.

A loner

Rahul has always been a lonely man, ploughing his own furlough. At times he gets unsolicited help from people like Digvijaya. When have you seen Rahul discuss serious issue with senior party leaders?

There is a growing feeling in the Congress in Delhi that Rahul Gandhi is not prime-minister material and is committing one blunder after another that started with Bihar. Rahul as impervious and a man who prefers to furrow a lonely path without as much caring for seniors.

Rahul is seen as a man who is 'out of touch' and has 'no close friends or advisors' because he often strays from his briefs and script given by his team. He is seen by some as 'arrogant and rude and doesn't accept guidance from anyone.'

More known for his gaffes

He, like some Congress leaders, is prone to gaffes; Here are a few of Rahul's gaffes: On April 15, in a speech at a campaign rally, he had said: "I belong to the family which has never moved backwards, which has never gone back on its words. You know that when any member of my family had decided to do anything, he does it. Be it the freedom struggle, the division of Pakistan (???) or taking India into the 21st Century." And goen on to say: the Babri Masjid structure "would have been protected had a member of the Gandhi family been in power."

Last year, Rahul created a storm by saying that Hindu extremists posed a greater threat to India than Muslim militants.

In WikiLeaks cables released by 'The Guardian' on Dec 17, Rahul is reported to have met US ambassador to India Timothy Roemer in a luncheon meeting. In the meeting, he had warned Roemer that although "there was evidence of some support for Islamic terrorist group Laskar-e-Taiba among certain elements in India's indigenous Muslim community, the bigger threat may be the growth of radicalised Hindu groups, which create religious tensions and political confrontations with the Muslim community".

The question before the Congress is whether the party should select Rahul Gandhi as a Prime Minister now and take blame on the Gandhi Family for all the misdeeds of last 7 years plus coming 3 years upto 2014 OR wait till 2014. The present Government headed by MMS is a scapegoat for the family to pass on a brunt.

AN APPEAL TO MR MANMOHAN SINGH, PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA.

Hari Om,

How democractically elected (selected) Prime Minister can say that the attack on peaceful, sleeping protestors was "Unfortunate but unavoidable" . How he can say so when he is the first one responsible to maintain democracy in this country. You can say that "it was unfortunate" but you cannot say that it was unvoiadable.   I give here an example --You are driving a car and commit an accident and by mistake kill an innocent on the road. You can say that it was unfortunate but you donot get a right to say that it was unavoidable, the court will decide whether it was "unavoidable" or not.  Can you say that I should be forgiven because it was "Unfortunate". Court will look into the matter whether precautions were taken to maintain it or not, whether you were driving neglegently etc.  Similarly, when you have shown to the world that negotations were going on (like precaution was taken to maintain the car),  but how your government can initiate police action which not only was undemocractic but it was a like those of the TERRORISTS. If you had a sound sleep on 5th night, then I am sorry to say that you have lost every right to remain Prime Minister of the country and also cannot be pardoned (even if you apologise to the nation in future--like you apologised for attack on Harminder saheb after a long long time.)

Even to-day nation will pardon you, if instead of defending the police action, you resign as PM and apologise to Ramdeobaba & the children, women and the aged one who were sleeping in Ramlila ground on 4th June 2011.

A few days back you have already publicly admitted your MAJBOORI in carring out this Government.  MANMOHAN SINGH JI SHOW US COURAGE IN ADMITTING THE MISTAKE BECAUSE EACH PASSING DAY CONFIRMS WEAKNESS IN YOURSELF.

Why both, print & electronic media is shy of discussing real issues?

TV and print media is not completely transparent and there are certain elements in media houses that are either owned by corrupt or by some other corporate who dictates the terms, means which news should be broadcast and which shouldn’t. e.g. we all know about the Neera Radia tapes. Outlook magazine was the first to expose this cartel of industrialists, reporters and politicians the contents of tapes were really shocking but surprisingly no T V News channel or print media broadcast those tapes. Even Outlook did not expose entire tapes but selectively only some fraction of these tapes are available on site of Outlook (click the link & listen--- http://outlookindia.com/article.aspx?268214 )
There is an economical angle behind these media houses run on the advertisement they get from Big corporates like Reliance, Tata and from the Government. One more example On 27th February baba ramdev organized a very huge rally on Ram lila ground where more than 1 lakh people were gathered. Mr Viswa Bandhu Gupta exposed the name of Vilas Rao Deshmukh and Ahmed Patel having accounts in foreign banks, Dr Subrmanyam Swami exposed Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Ram Jethmalani exposed Rajiv Gandhi's Swiss Account details. All these shocking revelations were happened on 27th february 2011 at Ram lila maidan but nothing was shown in any of the TV channels and news papers why? Electronic as well as print media never discussed those revelations in any of their programmes. Why? This shows all big media houses run by corrupt people supported by Congress.
Baba Ramdev was on Bharat Swabhiman Yatra from September 2010 to June 2011 where he visited entire length and breadth of the country where daily lakhs of people were coming, no TV channel or newspaper mentioned about this. why? In the history of India no person has gone to meet 10 crore people of India directly and awakened them on the issues of Black Money and Corruption. Why media never shown this? Now when Baba Ramdev organised the biggest satyagrah on 4th June where he became victim of a big conspiracy made by kapil sibbal (he is the same person who after becoming telecom minster had declared that there was no loss of money in the 2 G scam) Now suddenly the media turned against Baba Ramdev (as directed by corrupt congress) and started spreading disinformation about him. e.g. like from where baba got 1100 crore? Why same question has been never asked about Satya Sai baba who left an empire of 60,000 crore? just because Shri Satya Sai Baba never raised his voice against these corrupt politicians! Even no question was raised against Baba Ramdeo till 4th June 20011, Thereafter only Congressmen and the so called vigilant Media (particularly owned by FIIs) spreading DISINFORMATION about Baba’s wealth. If Baba has raised his empire of more than 1100 crores ( His are the first Trusts who declared their assets but even after 15 days no other Trusts created by corrupt people did not dare to publish their accounts and the origin of funds) WHY ?
Mr. Subramanyam Swamy has given some exposing information about Sonia Gandhi on his website (http://janataparty.org/sonia.html) Why is media silent on those issues?
i request all of you to send this information to all your friends, near & dear ones.

KAPIL SIBBAL MUST ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS WITH UTMOST HONESTY

Mr Kapil Sibbal in an interview said that “we have exposed Baba Ramdeo”. It is very much evident from the press conference on 4th June 2011 & subsequent events / utterances of congressmen proved that Baba might have been faulted on one count i.e. Acharya Balkrishna has given an assurance in writing that the TAPA (agitation) would be called off by 6th June 2011 and Baba has not declared it to the followers till 4.00 p.m. on 4th as per the written understanding & assurance given to Sibbal & Party.

I have a few questions to Mr Kapil Sibbal which should be answered by him WITH UTMOST HONESTY. I appeal to him to answer these questions putting everything aside except his conscience.

1. Whether you and three other Government Ministers went to talk to Baba Ramdeo on 1st June 2011 at the airport with an OPEN MIND without any ill feelings not only towards Baba BUT ALSO TOWARDS HIS DEMANDS MADE IN HIS LETTER DT. 4/5/2011 ADDRESSED TO THE PRIME MINISTER? (even though Media & People say that you went to receive Baba on red-carpet at the airport which privilege even president Obama did not get when he visited India but I am quoting your words only).

2. Whether any pressure tactics were adopted to force Acharya Balkrishna to give in writing that the agitation would be called-off by 6th June 2011? If it was not so, whether Acharya Balkrishna has given the letter on his own which was shown to the press on 4th evening at 7.00 p.m.? Who dictated the letter? I have a question here—Whenever there is dispute between Union & Management, union resort to various means to get their problems resolved including DHARNA & EVEN STRIKE. Have you heard anywhere that the Union instead of the Management has given in writing before the FINAL SETTLEMENT. It’s the other way round that Management gives in writing that we accede to some demands and not accepting others. Here is the case that Acharya has given to you in writing which shows that two of four NEETIS i.e. SAAM, DAAM, DAND & BHED had been adopted by you. Now, the further moves and the clarification by BABA shows that you have adopted two NEETIS (1) SAAM NEETI ( by receiving him at the airport on 1st June and talking to him in a Hotel on 3rd June) and (2) DAND NEETI (by threatening him in the hotel and brutal attack at 1.00 a.m. on 5th June).

3. You said in your interview that Baba was to announce of the settlement by 4.00 p.m. on 4th June. Which he did not and so you reminded him at 5.00 p.m. and given time that if by 6.00 p.m. Baba does not declare, you would go to press. Does it not amount to threatening / blackmailing Baba? In my opinion it is not expected and accepted, at least, from THE DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENT. So my question is “whether you & your democratically elected Government did not blackmail Baba?

4. You told in your interview that Baba did not declare about the agreement till 7.30 p.m. and that is why you “exposed” him. Whereas Baba did declare it at around 6.55 p.m. that the Government has accepted all demands. It is evident that before your press conference started at 7.00 p.m. when you left the dias and attended Baba’s phone. When Baba declared acceptance of demands before your press conference, what was the necessacity to show the letter to the press? If, in the first place, you claim to be so transparent then what was your intention to obtain the letter from Acharya Balkrishna? Was it not with the ulterior motive? What would have been the fate of this letter had Baba declared acceptance of his demands by 12.00 noon as per your agreement with him. You would have kept it secretly to blackmail Baba as and when required in future. Is it the way of TRANSPERENT GOVERNANCE?

5. When it was clearly mentioned in the letter that the TAPA (agitation) would be carried from 4th to 6th June, So also you have sent your letter at around 10.30 p.m., as declared by you in your press conference on 4th June at 7.00 p.m. that the Government is sending letter to Baba informing him about acceptance of demands, When you sent the letter at 10.30 p.m. what compelled you to carry out brutal attack at 12.30 a.m. So my question is “What compulsions were there between 10.30 p.m. and 12.30 a.m ? OR “Was it a pre-determined move?

6. You say that the permission for Ramlila ground was given for Yoga and not for any other purpose. Isn’t it? People of this country elected you for the good Governance and not for attacking sleeping children, women and aged. Isn’t it? You are an eminent lawyer. Can you show us any clause in Constitution, in any rule book that people of this free country cannot express their opinions about corruption and black money stashed outside India from the dias of Ramlila ground? If there was any breach of law from the dias, why the action was not taken then and there and waited till 12.30 a.m.?

7. When Baba arrived Haridwar on 5th, he addressed the whole media and demanded NARCO TEST be carried out on him, Acharya Balkrishna, Mr Kapil Sibbal & Party. If Mr Sibbal and Government is so honest, Mr Sibbal, even after 15 days, has not accepted Baba’s demand, Why?

I appeal to all countrymen to demand answers to these question from Mr Kapil Sibbal & Congressmen.

CONGRESS IS THE REAL “THUG”

What we have observed in the night of 4th June 2011 proves that the Government itself is the Terrorist and those who are defending this action are the real Thugs (Cheats).
Just see what has happened from 1st June 2011.  Baba Ramdeo was received by 4 senior ministers of the Government (including Shri Pranab-da) at the Airport.  Now, they say they went to Airport for discussions with Baba on the issues, but this could have done in the afternoon, evening or even at night of 1st.  But they showed eagerness to meet him at the Airport and show to the world that they are giving respect to the Sanyasi’s demands.   This was their first THUG-GIRI.
On 2nd also they pretended and carried on their so called efforts to convince Baba.  This also failed.
On 3rd , as it is evident now that, they were very sure that Baba cannot be fooled easily, a bigger conspiracy was hatched by Kapil Sibble and Co.  They refused to come to the Ramlila for discussions citing reason that the Government has already been exposed by sending 4 ministers to the airport.  So the drama of discussion was carried out in a Hotel for more than 5 hours still Baba was adamant for an ordinance declaring black money to be declared as national asset, confiscate it and make provisions for exemplary punishment in the law. When almost all other demands were accepted by the Government, what was the necessity of obtaining a letter from Baba. Whether its not cheating?  Mr. Sibble has shown that letter to the press on 4th evening.  When Sibble & Co obtained the letter on 3rd  afternoon then why it was not shown to the press then and there only.  At least Mr Sibble should have told the media that we have accepted Baba’s demand except of an ordinance and Baba has given us in writing that the agitation would be called off when an official communication will be given to him before 6th.  Why they waited till 4th evening?  We have seen on television media asking explanation from Baba, but till to-day, THE SO CALLED VIGILANT MEDIA HAS NOT DEMANDED ANY EXPLANATION FROM HIM.  Why?  Baba explained that there was pressure on him to give such letter so as to show it to the Prime Minister.  Why the media has still not cross checked it with Kapil Sibble?  If its true then instead of blaming Baba, we must blame the Government for adopting such illegitimate tactis of BLACKMAILING.  What is blackmailing?  In simple word, its coercion to commit biger mistakes by taking undue advantage of a mistake. The Government has precisely done the same thing with Baba. Obtained the letter fraudulently and misused it when it was suitable to them.  Is it not THUG-GIRI (CHEATING)?
Mr Sibble & Co has exposed the Baba on 4th evening by 7.00 p.m.  He did not explain to the country why such letter was obtained. The media has asked explanation from Baba.  He explained it to the media.  When Sibble & Co realized that the people did not accept their theory of the letter and people were completely supporting Baba rather than deserting him, then the Government really panicked.  Their plan of blackmailing Baba was completely backfired.  The Government tried to fool Baba by red-carpet welcome, then tried blackmailing and then used the third most heinous method of  mid-night attack on sleeping children, women and aged people.  This is for the first time in the history of mankind that the congregation of thousands of Baba’s devotees who were fighting against corruption in this country was brutally attacked not by the terrorists but by our so called democratically elected Government.  Who want such type of democracy?
The Governm, ent and the Congress who are supporting deplorable acts of Kapil Sibble & Co  have not cheated Ramdeo Baba but our beloved nation called BHARAT.
